Where to Park@SG

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes. There's nothing to pay and no account to create. The site may show ads to cover its running costs; the privacy policy explains how they work.

Is this an official HDB app?

No. Where to Park@SG is an independent project. It uses HDB's open data from data.gov.sg, but isn't made or endorsed by HDB or any government agency.

How up to date are the numbers?

The site checks for new lot counts every minute. Each carpark reports on its own schedule, and most counts are only a few minutes old. The List tab shows when the counts were last updated. See how live availability works.

Which carparks are covered?

HDB carparks across Singapore: 2,273 in total, about 2,000 of which send live lot counts. Shopping centre and other private carparks aren't included.

Why does my carpark say "No data"?

Either it doesn't send live counts, or its count hasn't been updated for over 24 hours, which usually means its reporting has stopped. In both cases the app shows "No data" rather than a number that may be wrong.

Why can't I see motorcycle lots at my carpark?

Only about 210 carparks report live motorcycle counts, and about the same number report heavy-vehicle counts. When you switch to the motorcycle or lorry icon, the app shows only the carparks that do. Your carpark may still have motorcycle lots; they just aren't counted live.

The app said there were free lots, but the carpark was full. Why?

Lots can be taken in the minutes it takes to get there, and the count comes from the carpark's own system, which isn't always exact. Small carparks showing "Filling up" are the most likely to be full on arrival. The tips for finding a free lot help you allow for this.

Why does it ask for my location?

To sort carparks nearest to you first and to centre the map on you. Your location stays on your device and is never sent to us. If you say no, the app still works and sorts carparks by free lots instead.

Does it work offline?

Partly. After your first visit, the app opens without a connection and shows the last lot counts it downloaded. They won't update until you're back online, so check the time shown in the List tab.

Can I install it like an app?

Yes, on Android, iPhone, iPad and computers, with no app store needed. The About page has the steps for each.

How do I report a problem or suggest something?

Contact me. If a carpark looks wrong, please say which one (the name or number shown when you tap it) and what you found there.
